VENTURAis a Contest 29, built in Holland. She combines the
practicality of a glassfibre hull with the warmth of a wooden interior. The
Yacht is fully certified by the Marine Coastguard Agency as a small commercial
craft and is a Royal Yachting Association Training Centre, which require the
yacht to be fully equipped with safety equipment and maintained to a high standard.
Staff are all highly qualified to the RYA's and MCA's requirements.
There
is 5-berth accommodation down below (2 up front, 2 in the main cabin and 1 quarter
berth). The main cabin has standing headroom, cooking area, navigation area
plus plenty of storage space.
There is a toilet and wash basin.
Cruising areas are
dependent on the weather but include
North towards the Summer
isles and Ullapool
South towards Torridon,
Plockton etc.
Southwest to Skye
West to the Hebrides

or specials out to St.Kilda
or the Northern Isles

Courses
We can offer
An evenings introductory
session - enjoy an evenings sail (escape the midges), see porpoises and
sea birds. Have a go at steering "Ventura"
2 hour trip.
Go slighly further afield and get more experience of helming and how a yacht
sails.
Full day trip -
A chance to leave Loch Gairloch and go to Loch Torridon. Or have a full day
with lots of instruction.
RYA certificate courses
Competent
crew (if you have little or now experience). By the end of 5 days
we hope you would have the ability to sail to a basic level and know
about living and working on a Yacht
Day Skipper,
for those with some sailing and navigational experience to learn about
being in charge of a small yacht and taking it on familiar day cruises
Coastal Skipper
is a course for those with a reasonable amount of experience who would
like training to assist them to getting the RYA/MCA Coastal Skipper
Award
You need to provide
personal clothing and effects plus footwear, waterproofs, sleeping bag for the
course.
Insurance
Ventura Sailing carries the mandatory insurance covers, relating to third parties.
It is strongly recommended you take out insurance to cover yourself against
accident, injury, loss of personal possessions and cancellation.
